Know Me?
Sunday, 10th April 2005 by Neville Clark
About six months ago I had a call from the BBC - they were making a new programme real-life genre showing how advisors can work with people and help them change their lives so much they can pay off their mortgage in a year.
The first question was "Tell me about you?".
Many philosophers have observed that successful people are clear about themselves - they have a clear response when asked this question. Nothing is clearer to them than themselves, what they are good at, what they are not so good at, what they want from life and where they are on their life-plan.
This is the first thing I ask people who come to me for help or advice and it is the single most revealing question you can ask someone.
So - try writing your answer down now - go on - do it and see what you come up with.
Now test it against my first five sample criteria below:
- You know five things you must achieve before you die
- You know what you are working on now to achieve them
- You know your strengths
- You know the weaknesses you have to address to feel fulfilled in your life
- You know five people that could name at least one of your goals and/or are helping you
Simple isn't it
