email madness
Thursday, 28th April 2005 by Neville Clark
My boss once asked me how he had recieved an email from one of his team
when they were away. I explained that one of the team had written
what he said over the phone.
He was about to walk away when he turned back to me and said "...but
the from address was correct". Of course I said he wanted you to
know who it was from.
Most people think an email is like a phone call or voice-mail; the text is from the person stated, FACT.
NO - NOT TRUE
Most email software hides the fact that behind the scenes the message
is simply a combination of elements tied into an electronic envelope
call an email. To someone in the know it is simple to create an
enevelope and address it with wnything they want in it.
This is why we have to be so wary of the emails that arrive in our
in-box and never assume that a message says it is from xxx is anything
to do with xxx.
If you want to know how to help ensure a message is from xxx - read my electronic signature nugget later this month...
