WHY? Charles wanted to watch me put a new tax disk on my bike last week and as I leaned down to remove the old one he asked me his first 'why' question. "Why you doin nat daddy?" He has been satisfied with 'what' for ages now and it was quite a shock to get a 'why'. Add to that the complexity of the answer and you can see why I did not answer and instead had a good laugh. Then I asked him "why he was asking such difficult questions" and he went very quiet to ponder that one.
He has developed drop-kicking to be quite proficient and I watched him eye up a ball bouncing toward him to catch it very hard in mid flight - indoors it went like a rocket bouncing through from lounge to kitchen. He was telling me the names of characters on CBBies and knows them down to Ee and Oo of the tumblyboos, he comes out with "Three of..." for things without counting out loud so names and numbers are getting well known to him. He was doing his own little protest this morning and wanted to stay in our bed rather than go to Nursery. Every reason under the sun was coming out - too cold, wrong clothes, etc but once we had him pinned down and dressed between us he was happy again - the sit in the corner for a minute every year old seems to work very well as he loves limelight. I took him to watch mum and big sis rehearsing for the Christmas Panto and he was very well behaved. Entranced as he watched them acting out their parts in Beauty & the Beast. Then near the end a dance routine was being choreographed and one of the girls was missing - he willingly went in line and was given a tray. I thought he would watch, but no he went further trying to match the steps and moves of the Girls right down to the exaggerated steps at one point in the act. Round and round the table to the music in two minutes he was in step and time! I was in tears of laughter - unable to believe what he was doing. Lovely! Now we just need him potty trained etc... |
