How?

If you take a handful of sand and throw it in the air over youself how much will go in your eyes as you look up?  My guess is a few grains.

The picture painted by Doctors was one of that inevitability - not a case of if, but how bad the damage would be.

Charles had is progress assessment at 2.5 yrs last week and was given a 3.5 age rating by the assessor.  To us he is not particularly bright nor gifted and actually is quite a handful to look after.  His talking was a bit slow we thought "That will be the brain damage then - a bit slow, but wonderful just to have him".

How can it be that he is ahead now?  The news is so good it absolutey blows my socks off.

This journey is like no roller-coaster, no operation recovery, no miracle I am aware of - it is just our own little story going from acceptance of Death to Thriving over 2.5 years.  That pain and anguish at the start running to pinching myself last week to see if I was dreaming.  Each time we get good news we think that is it now he is normal and we can relax into normal parenthood, but still reserve a little bit - just in case.

I do not know if any of you still read this, but if you do, you will no doubt think the same as me.  When the sun shines on you it fills you with the most fantastic sense of Earthly well-being.  The Rain is no threat to Charles and the Sun is still shining on him and he loves both.

If you get a chance to watch an old film get 'Being There' with Peter Sellers - Chauncy Gardner...   B&W, but a brilliant spin on lots of things we take for granted like luck and wealth and chance.

He is in his bed not a cot tonight - these are lovely changes as he grows up and we are just starting to potty train!

Thank You
