Sorry to have missed Friday, but things were just stable and no real news to add which I guessed you would assume from the lack of Blog...
Today there is a little change and that is he has put on three ounces. Not very much you might think, but you'd be wrong. In the grand scheme of things gaining weight is our password to Charles freedom from Hospital, his get out of here certificate his passport into our loving care.
He is taking full feeds by bottle and taking two thirds of his normal feed by breast on a regular basis plus he knows when he is hungry and crys for food. IE he has the survival ingredients to be with us. The aim is to get him used to feeding a little less regularly and taking a little more at each feed.
Cathy will probably stay in the Hospital to try to get that routine established now he has shown strong if unpredictable breast feeding ability. We are gearing ourselves up for this to start tomorrow - Sunday or Monday.
It is ok to visit Charles and Cathy on the ward (Beeding SCBU) at Worthing, but please arrange with us first as we have to be there for you to see him (and us of course!). Cathy is a talkative person and Charles, much as he tries and tries he just does not cut the mustard (he just makes loads of it) when it comes to conversation. So what I am trying to say is visitors welcome!
Time for thanks - two casseroles and a cottage pie have lasted us the whole of this week - thanks guys - delicious.
Thanks for neighbours and friends helping distract Emily from becoming jealous of her sick brother getting loads of attention.
Thanks Mum, Dad Clark & Faiers and others for covering costs of a few things and many thoughtful gifts for Charles (and ever-so thoughtfully for Emily too). We (Royal WE) are doing thank you cards - honest! Please don't be angry if we miss you out we just seem to have lost the ability sit down and work through anything we would normally do in five minutes. We start ok then seem to glaze over at the slightest distraction - just can't concentrate and feel constantly tired. (Normal I hear some say in the front row, anyway it is my excuse and I'm sticking to it)
